Street Skunks

The Golf Scene

EXT. GEORGIE'S BACKYARD - DAY

GEORGIE

(into walkie)

DIRECT HIT!! IT'S IN THE CUP. I REPEAT...THE BALL IS IN THE CAP!

Keenan Fumes.

KEENAN

Relax. I still get a chance to tie.

Keenan, squares up to take his shot.

GEORGIE

(like a golf announcer, whispers into the walkie-talkie)

Keenan Robinson approaches the ball, with only one thought in mind. Will I lose to a girl...again? In front of all my friends...

KEENAN

Dude. Will you shut up!

GEORGIE

(still in golf whisper)

It's clear the pressure is getting to him...can he pull it together...or will he choke like last week...and the week before.

Keenan ignores him now and begins to narrate his set up.

KEENAN

Ok...Head down. Club is straight. 77 yards to the cup. Wind is left but slow. Hips then arms. Grip stays soft...

Keenan takes the club back.

KEENAN (CONT'D)

Baby bird...

and swings with all his heart...

SMACK! The ball takes flight. It's up. It's spinning. It sounded great. It felt better...the ball is soaring up, up and then...SMASH! It CRASHES through the window of Mr. Wallen's kitchen bouncing like a super ball, and sending his dogs into a fury.

I'm really digging listening to scripts on long walks. Burning through my reading pile and calories at the same time, what's not to love?!
