How It Works

  1. Access the Dashboard: Screenplayer works best on a desktop. Start by going to your dashboard, which is where your scripts will be stored and managed.
  2. Upload Your PDF: Click or drag-and-drop your PDF into the designated section. Make sure it's in standard screenplay format—if the formatting is off, try importing it into a script editor (like Final Draft) and re-exporting as a PDF to fix margins and spacing.
  3. Watermarks or Revision Headers: If your script has a watermark or a revision header, check the respective box upon upload and enter the exact text as it appears. This ensures that text is not read aloud in the final audio.
  4. Processing Your Script: Once uploaded, your script begins processing automatically. When finished, it appears in your dashboard.
Script upload process
  1. Edit Script Details: In the dashboard, you can adjust the title and author of your screenplay if needed.
  2. Open the Casting Section: Click the "Casting" button to expand a dropdown showing all the characters identified in your screenplay. If any non-character text appears, remove it by clicking the "X."
  3. Review or Change Voices: Screenplayer automatically assigns voices based on gender, but we recommend verifying the choices. Preview any voice by opening its dropdown and pressing the "Play" icon.
Character casting process
  1. Generate the Audio: Once you're satisfied with all the voice assignments, close the casting section and click "Generate." Keep in mind that you can no longer make changes once the audio starts generating.
  2. Await Your Notification: The process typically takes about 20 minutes. You'll receive an email when your audio is ready.
  3. Listen to Your Script: Either use the link in your email or return to the dashboard and press the "Play" button. This takes you to a dedicated player page where you can start/pause playback, adjust listening speed, and download the original script PDF.
Audio player interface
  1. Share With Others: If you want to share your script, click the "Share" button to create a shareable link that you can send to others.
